Owing to the way of life of the poorer segment of individuals, their tendency to inculcate habits like smoking, chewing tobacco and with their income levels being low, they, in most cases cannot afford the cost of the diagnostic tests and treatment. Belgaum Cancer Hospital is proud of having ventured to stand up to the requirements of this section of society.  Special arrangements have been made at our facility in the form of the VAS team which takes care of the approvals, treatment and follow up of the BPL patients. We seek to ensure that timely and the best possible treatment is provided to every individual treated under the VAS scheme. Our association with the SAST is a matter of privilege and we have undertaken a massive marketing campaign to enable us reach out to people in rural/ semi-urban areas in order to generate awareness and offer the benefits of the scheme.
In addition to the VAS scheme, we are also associated with the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and the Chief Minister's fund under which the entire expense or a percentage of the cost of the treatment is reimbursed to the patient upon completion of the treatment. Execution of this arrangement requires a letter of recommendation from the Local Member of Parliament (MP) or Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
BCH is also associated with the Karnataka State Govt & the Goa Government for treatment of Government employees. We are also associated with the Marmagoa Port Trust (MPT) that provides free treatment for the patients it recommends to our place for treatment.
